Sixteen barangays distributed in nine municipalities mostly in Kalinga and one in Mt. Province in the Cordillera Administrative Region are recipients of a total of Php50M funds for projects thru the Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan Department of the Interior and Local Government Fund (PAMANA-DILG Fund) for the year 2012.

The barangay-recipients are Babbanoy and Upper Lubo in the Municipality of Tanudan; Ableg, Cagaluan, Balinciagao Sur, Dalupa and Galdang in the Municipality of Pasil; Guina-ang, Taga, Limos in the Municipality of Pinukpuk; Buaya in the Municipality of Balbalan; Dupag and Bagumbayan in the City of Tabuk; Bugnay in the Municipality of Tinglayan and Betwagan in the Municipality of Sadanga.

These areas are included in the 57 barangays in 23 municipalities in the six provinces that were identified in the Government of the Philippines and the Cordillera Bodong Administration-Cordillera People’s Liberation Army (GPH-CBA-CPLA) memorandum of Agreement (“Closure Agreement”) signed last July 4, 2011.

PAMANA is the government’s program and framework for peace and development in areas affected by conflict and communities covered by existing peace agreements. It aims to reduce poverty, improve governance and empower communities in situations of armed conflict.

These LGUs may avail of the initial fund upon completion of documentary requirements including a Memorandum of Agreement with the DILG and the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP).

This program aims to contribute to lasting peace by reducing poverty and vulnerability in conflict-affected areas; improve governance and empower communities and strengthen their capacities to address issues of conflict and peace through activities that promote cohesion.
